About

My name is Kat Coyle and I am a writer based in Glasgow. I recently completed a nature writing course by For Books Sake and my fellow writing community motivated me to start this nature writing blog. I plan to write about my walks and deepen my overall understanding of nature, with a focus on local nature and the climate crisis.

I called the blog ‘burrowing’ is because I have spent years walking in nature, noticing interesting details, without digging any deeper. Now I feel driven to ‘burrow’ further. I’ve also been reading up on burrowing in different species and have learned how important this action is for ecology and conservation.

While living in Madrid for a few years I wrote a couple of features for The Island Review, one with an American visual artist and the other with a Spanish writer who had grown up on the island of Mallorca. I soon discovered that many of the people I met shared my love/hate relationship with the city. The theme of nature in urban life and a longing for both rootedness and escape at the same time, is another theme I’d like to explore.
